Dancing on the tunes of preset milestones
Rhutuja Telang finds joy in setting milestones, cherishing the journey as much as the destination, which has infused her life with purpose. Currently working with Deloitte as their Analyst-Core Research and Insights, Rhutuja opens up about her campus placement journey, the turning point in her life, a few tips for her juniors on how to prepare for the placement and more
Rhutuja was born and raised in Amravati, a small town in Maharashtra. The beauty of small towns lies in its ability to allow individuals to truly be themselves and to pursue their dreams with the freedom to soar high. “Rightly Put,” smiled Rhutuja. “The credit for who I am today truly goes to my family, especially my parents, and certainly my hometown as well. All this has given me the liberty to explore my passion. I know this is just the beginning, and I have a long way to go, for which I am all geared up,” she added.
Finding balance
As a student, Rhutuja scored good grades. “My parents being teachers, excelling academically was somewhat expected, and I'm grateful to have met their expectations. However, they also encouraged me to explore various interests and engage in extracurricular activities. It was during my school years that I discovered my passion for learning Kathak. This art form not only taught me patience in academics but also instilled in me the ability to find joy in life's smallest moments,” informed Rhutuja. Further adding, “I encourage all students to participate in extracurricular activities. It offers them opportunities to explore the world, expand their networks, discover their purpose, and truly enjoy life.”
Turning point
Everything happens for a reason, and sometimes, we stumble upon opportunities when we least expect them, and in that case, we must just grab them. While completing her Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.), Electronics and Telecommunication from her hometown, Rhutuja had a realisation that her true calling wasn't in engineering, but rather in marketing. “I realised I am more of a people’s person. I like to communicate, set up a project from scratch, bring in sponsorships, and anchor an event. That’s when I knew I had to get a degree in MBA in Human Resources”.

Moving to Pune to pursue her dreams wasn’t an easy task for her. “In 2017, when I relocated to Pune for my higher studies, I harboured some doubts, but with the support of my friends and family, I overcame them. My goal was to complete my MBA in Human Resources to secure a good placement. My college instilled in me the virtues of patience, resilience, determination, and the importance of never giving up. It indeed provided me with the optimal platform to thrive in my corporate journey.”
Rhutuja, an exceptional student, maintained her commitment to participating in extracurricular activities throughout her post-graduation. Reflecting on one of the most memorable days, she fondly recalled, "The shining highlight has to be our team winning the Aiyaswami Cup. We showcased our talents in dancing, singing, and various other activities as a team. Since my team won the cup, we were awarded a trip to Goa. The experience was so unforgettable that I still smile when I think about it today."
Placement-ready
The college since the very beginning had prepared her to face the placement rounds. Talking about her journey, she said, “As I was an engineering student, I had a good grip on the aptitude round. When it came to GD and PI rounds, my college played a great role in clearing my doubts. With that, we also had a mock round with my friends, which added to my knowledge. Overall, I sat for only two companies, got placed with ICICI Bank, and over the years I moved to Deloitte.”
Manifesting her goals
The power of setting milestones is beyond imagination. “And the best part is ticking off the goals on your to-do list," she exclaimed. Continuing, "I might have been around 15 years old when I envisioned becoming independent by 22 age. But even before that, I dreamed of excelling in my educational journey. I managed to do both. Of course, it took a lot of hard work, but the happiness of achieving your goals is impeccable." She also manifested to settle down by the age of 27. Last year, Rhutuja married Kushall Dumbre, and now they are comfortably established and aspire to conquer the world together.
Next on her agenda is excelling in her corporate career, while also aspiring to purchase a car and a house. These dreams not only reflect her courage and patience but also signify her determination to create a fulfilling life. With each goal she sets her sights on, Rhutuja adds value not only to her journey but also to the lives she touches along the way. And now, fueled by her past successes, she shows no signs of slowing down. “As I mentioned, this is just the beginning,” she smiled as she signed off.
