Wearing several hats is what Delhi based communications professional, Mukta Kapoor, finds exciting hence, running her own wedding planner and design company adds to her multi-tasking forte. In an exclusive interview with Corporate Citizen, she talks about her work philosophy and how she maintains work-life balance
Corporate Citizen: How do you set out your priorities to keep your work and personal life balanced?
Mukta Kapoor: I wake up very early in the morning to make sure I work out - sometimes as early as 3:30am. My work is very important to me, so I don’t compromise on it. Instead I balance it with my ‘me’ time and my workouts. I love watching TV – am a compulsive watcher so whenever I am short on time, I simply don’t switch on the TV and believe it or not, sometimes it’s weeks when I don’t even switch it on. It helps me manage my time.
CC: While on the move, what helps you the most in maintaining calm and peace?
I don’t stress much, I like to keep things easy, it helps me think and act better.
CC: What keeps you fit and healthy?
Mostly running and a bit of cycling and gyming.
CC: How do you like to rejuvenate, recharge and de-stress?

CC: Tips that work the best for you to maintain work life balance.
- Do only what you enjoy doing. Don’t take up a job if you don’t like it.
- Keep work & personal lives separate.
- Don’t stress. Stay Calm. Let things take their own course.

CC: Do you play any game which helps you in your work?
I play Wordle and Candy Crush. It helps me de-stress!
CC: What is the Secret of your success?
My hard work and the ability to adapt well. Sincerity. Whatever I do, I do it with all my heart and ability. I am honest with my work, with my people and with myself, always.
CC: How has your journey been?
Journey has been good, challenging at times, rewarding at times. The focus always is to look at the bigger picture, real goals and not just immediate rewards.
CC: Three lessons you have learnt in life as an entrepreneur?
Be sincere to whatever you do. Enjoy your work. Stay focused and stay calm.
CC: What would be your advice to women desiring to become entrepreneurs?
Everything is possible, work towards it and you can do it. It’s a tough world out there, especially for women who are married with kids. The balance between family and work is always challenging. Speak up, communicate with your family, make them understand how important your work is to you and you’ll hopefully be able to manage.
When starting your own work, don’t expect the professional world to give you a special treatment because you’re a woman. Treat yourself as an equal.
The more you respect yourself, your work - the more everyone around you will respect it.
Don’t look for a shortcut. Work towards it, believe in yourself. And you’ll do wonders.
CC: What is your philosophy of work?
Enjoy your work. Stay calm, work as a team, delegate and give space to your colleagues to work along.
CC: The business leader you admire the most?
Elon Musk. He’s unique. There is something about him that tells you to believe in yourself. Doesn’t matter what the world says or thinks. He does what he wants to.
CC: What do you enjoy the most in life?
Work. Workout. Food. Films.
CC: What message you would like to give to youngsters on Time Management?
Balance it all. Everything is important. Take time out for your hobbies, it’ll help you de-stress and concentrate better at work.
CC: Can you define yourself in one sentence?
I am my own creation.
CC: What dreams remain to be fulfilled?
I want to open a luxe old age home one day.
CC: Where do we see you 10 years from now?
Travelling the world, while I continue to work and work out!
