"I had to work hard to get good grades. And I never hesitated from giving my best. But as I was ambitious and focused, I was able to manage my educational journey well"
-Shrddha Kulkarni
Shrddha was born and raised in Aurangabad. A few of her striking qualities that define her as she says are being ambitious and focused. And, the credit goes to the way she was raised by her humble parents. Talking about her childhood, she said, “I had to work hard to get good grades. And I never hesitated from giving my best. But as I was ambitious and focused, I was able to manage my educational journey well,” smiled Shrddha.
Moulding a better future
Shrddha completed her graduation in Mechanical Engineering from her hometown. Soon after that, she started working with Sanjeev Group, as their New Product Development Engineer. The engineering college was where Shrddha’s leadership qualities were built. “During my graduation, I was elected as the Ladies’ Representative. I even took part in various events, where we emerged victorious. This journey instilled values of leadership and teamwork. Hence, I urge students to take part in extracurricular activities and excel as much as possible,” said Shrddha.
Moving forward
Shrddha’s experience as a fresher with Sanjeev Group, was outstanding and she was able to overcome several hurdles as well. “Within a few months, I got an essence of the corporate world and how it functions. Although I was the only woman in the corporate and on the field, I was able to create my space, and that for me was my biggest achievement,” explained Shrddha.
Ambition is the path to success. And Shrddha believes that ambition without action is pointless. “I wanted to grow, earn more, and save, which wasn’t possible here. This is why I thought of pursuing MBA. It will not only add value to knowledge, but it will also help me get a good package” Soon, she moved to Pune to pursue her MBA in Operation and Supply Chain.
Her campus placement saga
When she entered her post-graduation college, she came in with her a head held high, a pocket full of dreams, and a heart filled with hope. She was clear about what she wanted to achieve. “I had worked very hard to enter this college. And I aimed to gather as much knowledge as possible and get placed in the best company with an amazing package,” she said.
But her campus placement journey was filled with thorns. “The experience was rather scary and heartbreaking,” added Shrddha. She further added, “I was well prepared, and all geared up to face this campus placement challenge. One thing I was sure of was, I knew my worth and I wasn’t going to settle for a package that is less than 7 lakhs. Overall, I sat for three companies, but unfortunately, things did not work out.” The campus placement session was nearing to end, but Shrddha hadn’t bagged a job that she dreamt of. “All this while, I did not lose hope. I was confident and I was sure that one day I will get my dream job.” Most of the college students were placed and they packed their bags and left. But Shrddha did not give up. “I wasn’t going home without a job. I wanted to prove myself,” she smiled.
After a lot of hustle, Shrddha was placed as Business Process Analyst at Schlumberger. As the storm passed by, it brought tonnes of happiness to her life. Shrddha got married to her best friend, Sujay. “Never give up, be stubborn when it comes to your goals. This phase was tough, but I am glad that Sujay and my parents were constantly supporting me. That indeed became my strength. All I would say is know your worth and keep fighting till you achieve your goal.” Recently they were blessed by angel Ovi, who is just seven months old. Moving on, Shrddha hopes to climb the ladder of success slowly and steadily and shower her family with happiness.
How to prepare for campus placement:
Realise your worth: This begins by understanding yourself, your strengths, weaknesses, and your goals. Once you understand all this, you will realise your worth and value yourself. This process helps in picking a company during campus placement. In all essence, it reflects confidence.
Be confident: It is obvious to be gripped by nervousness, but keep in mind your goal and you will be good to go. Don’t let nervousness get the best of you. It clouds your performance taking away your shine during the campus placement rounds. It is easier said than done. To avoid all this, you should be prepared from day one.
Never lose hope: I agree campus placement rounds are taxing, and at times, you won’t get placed. These are testing times. Never lose hope. Have faith in yourself, you will surely reach your goal.
Brush up on your basics: Knowing your subject in and out sets up a strong foundation. In doing so, your command of that topic increases and keeps your brain sharp as well. And if your basic is rock solid you will surely shine in all the rounds of campus placement.
