Find the right key to success
Although every door brings in new opportunities, Genia Jain is of the notion that one must find the right key to make the most of what’s in store behind every door. “If it is destined you will surely conquer the world,” she smiled. But with hard work and dedication only, she added. Currently working with Medcords Healthcare Solutions as their Partnerships Manager, Genia opens about her campus placement journey, the turning point in her life, a few tips for her juniors on how to prepare for the placement, and more
Genia was born and raised in Kota, Rajasthan. Up until her post-graduation, she completed her education in her hometown. A skilled girl, Genia always had big dreams. And one would often find her swaying and spinning around the house which, indeed, is the testament of her love for dancing. “Dancing is my passion,” the smile on her face was clear evidence of the same. This enthusiasm of hers has given her a chance to transform herself into a better version of Genia. “Be it studies or any aspect of life, my love for dancing has acted as a catalyst to enhance my performance in every walk of my life. I began learning Kathak soon after I finished school. And since then, there was no looking back,” she added.
As a student, Genia was a mix of both-a notorious and a smart kid. And that reflected in her grades. Talking more about how learning Kathak changed her, she explained, “This form of art inculcated values like patience, confidence and perseverance. All these virtues come in handy during your educational and professional journey as well. It helped my critical thinking power during exams, boosted my memory, and developed skills like creativity, communication, and teamwork.”
"Only you know yourself better. Spend some time with yourself to analyse your journey so far. Note down your dreams and aspirations. And according to that, plot a plan to achieve it"

Learning lessons
During her Commerce days, Genia hoped to become a CA one day. For which she did not leave a single stone unturned. “Becoming a CA was a dream and for that, I was ready to put in my sweat and tears. During those days was when I learnt a valuable lesson-not every door is for you,” she said. Further adding, “I agree, we should knock on every door. As time is of the essence, we shouldn’t keep trying or forcing our dream to come true when they are bound to remain unfulfilled. Within a few months, I realised the door of CA wasn’t for me, as the key I had wasn’t working. Rather than sulking, I knocked on another door. That was as interesting and enticing. I want to complete my MBA from Pune. Soon, a girl from a small town of Kota moved to Pune to complete her dreams.”
The great shift
After completing her graduation in Commerce from her hometown, she moved to Pune to pursue her MBA in Marketing and IT. This shift created a Genia 2.0. She instantly agreed, “All my life, I stayed under the umbrella of my parent’s love and support. It was indeed my comfort zone. And I was ready to move out of that zone and to chase my dream,” Genia said.
But the moment she entered college, she got a reality check. “I came in with the business mind-within a matter of few months, I will get a great company and package and life will be sorted,” she said. But when she saw an ocean of thousands of students fighting for the same, her bubble popped. And the outcome, you ask? Genia became more confident than ever and that ignited the never-ending fire of zeal in her.
Placement preps
As the placement session approached, she started preparing in full force. “Thanks to my CA days, I had developed an interest in reading. This continued and came in handy while I was preparing for campus placement. I read several books on the same, researched about the companies, read about how to present yourself during the PI and GD rounds. But it took quite some time to get placed. I saw my friends finding their desired organisation. But that did not pull me down, rather I gave everything I had in me to get placed,” Genia explained. Finally, her hard work resulted in something beautiful.
Soon she got placed in Dineout, as their Retail Sales Manager. After taking a great amount of experience, she moved to another company and finally landed with Medcords Healthcare Solutions. So, what’s next on your plate, we asked. She smiled, “My corporate journey has been pretty well so far. And I hope to climb the ladder of success slowly yet steadily. With that, I hope to withhold the strength to provide everything that my family wishes for. And of all, my health will be out the topmost priority. Amidst all this, I will never stop smiling-that’s my strength you see!” She signed out!
Tips on how to prepare for campus placement and more
Company > Profile > Package: Freshers’ first job is pivotal, as your first boss possesses the strength to mould into a great corporate leader. It can make or break their career. This is precisely why, for any student, the line of action should be finding the right organisation, a picture-perfect profile, and after they should think about the package.
Being perfect: For GD and PI, students should dress neatly as that speaks highly of their charisma. It also exudes how serious you are about the placement. Never lie during these rounds. Be honest, admit when you don’t know the answer, show your readiness to learn more, be patient, and work hard.
Understand yourself: Only you know yourself better. Spend some time with yourself to analyse your journey so far. Note down your dreams and aspirations. And according to that, plot a plan to achieve it.
Research is the key: Conducting thorough research adds to your knowledge, increases your awareness, adds to your educational experience, builds your confidence, nourishes your minds, and helps you during the GD and PI rounds.
Keep smiling: Failure is a part of life. Take it with a pinch of salt. There are times when your hard work won’t provide you with the sweet fruit of success. In these times, keep your smile brighter and keep up with your work. You will surely get placed in your dream company.
