Want it? Go get it!
Bindaas girl, Drishti Ohri is a true testament how one should lead their 20s like. A true go-getter, an ardent foodie, concept-driven and ambitious yet living in the present, Drishti is all set to conquer the realm of sales by her witty attitude. In a tête-à-tête with Corporate Citizen, Drishti opened up about her educational and career journey...
She is one of them who is a ‘queen of her word’. If she makes up her mind, she will move heaven to earth to achieve her dreams. Born and raised in Delhi, Drishti moved out of her comfort zone to experience something new and create her own identity. She is currently working with ICICI Bank Ltd as a Branch Sales Manager-Mortgages. Talking about her journey so far, she said, “The move to Pune to pursue my further studies completely transformed me as a person. And I have realised it lately that nothing in life is permanent. Hence, I live each day at a time and I try to do better than I was doing yesterday. If I want something, I will go get it.”
Getting there
Up till her ninth grade, Drishti would pass with flying marks in her exams. However, after that, she began questioning the basis on which the entity of education functioned. “I won’t hesitate to admit that I was a bright kid growing up. I would score really well. That’s because I would focus on understanding the concepts. 2020It wasn’t that I was born this way, earlier, I would sometimes mug up the answers as well. But when I understood the importance of studying the other way around, I was hooked to it,” said a proud Drishti.
During her latter school days and early college life, answering the theory questions was always challenging for her. Nonetheless, she would ace the practical exams. “Once you understand the concepts, acing the practical exams is always a piece of cake. I knew I lacked in the theory exams, hence I would simply make it up during the practical exams to get good grades,” she said. Further adding, “I am glad to be have born in the Ohri family as they never forced to study nor did the yell at me when sometimes I would score less marks. In any case, they supported me and pushed me to achieve my dreams.”
Drishti completed her schooling from Delhi, while she finished her Bachelor of Business Administration from GGSIPU, Dwarka. And she signed the deal by completing her PGDM in International Business, Marketing and Sales from renowned business college, Pune.
Practical knowledge is a must
Unless you jump into the swimming pool, one cannot learn the art of swimming. And to ace any field, students shouldn’t restrict their imagination or learnings to the four walls of their classroom. Agreed Drishti, “As per me, one takes up an MBA to bag a good job. However, before that students must work on developing their personality. Which is why practical knowledge always crucial.” Further adding, “I cannot stress enough how important it is to get your concepts right since the beginning. Theory is imperative as well, but what takes the drivers’ seat for me is practical experience and knowledge. If you can relate every concept with an example learning becomes easy.”
“Although I was a goal-oriented person before, currently I love to live in the moment. I love to learn new things which strengthens my base. My only aim is to work hard, grow, be happy and keep others happy”

She made it!
She is one of them who never loses hope. She might get sad for a while, but later she will come back with a bang. Although initially she did not get placed in her dream company, Drishti had a plan B. She learnt it the hard way that one shouldn’t be attached to their dream company. Talking about her placement journey she said, “Aptitude was my forte. And after a taking part in a few GDs and PIs, I became very confident. I was certainly disheartened when I did not get placed in my dream company. But I later realised that it wasn’t the end of the world. I made sure to get placed in the next best company.” And that’s how she got placed with Piramal Capital and Housing Finance.
Over the period of the next few months, she religiously worked hard and slowly started climbed the ladder of success. “I learnt new concepts and tried to apply them in the field as well. I loved my job! In the coming months, I built on a number of new channel partners and strengthened the existing channels for sourcing mortgage cases. When I accumulated a good quality portfolio of clients, that’s when I decided to take a leap and shift to a new job,” she said. She recently joined ICICI Bank Ltd. as a Branch Sales Manager-Mortgages.
Talking about her future goals, she said, “Although I was a goal-oriented person before, currently I love to live in the moment. I love to learn new things which strengthens my base. My only aim is to work hard, grow, be happy and keep others happy.”

It has been almost two years since Drishti entered the corporate world and she is settling in well in the industry. On that note, she passes on a few tips to her juniors for the campus placement season :
Be less penchant : It’s fine to have a dream company in mind. But if you don’t get through that company don’t be heartbroken. It’s not the end of the world. In fact, since the beginning have an open mind, be ready to work for any company that comes your way.
The lucky factor : Luck favours the brave. Work hard towards your goal. Never let a single stone unturned. Also, sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck.
Communicate wisely : Communication is the key. Well, that does not mean you start blabbering during the GD and PI. Work on your communication skills and make it effective. Understand the company’s expectations, listen to them with the utmost concentration and then communicate.
Stay updated : The two types of questions that we get during the GD is abstract or current affairs-related. While abstract questions are easy to answer, GK-based questions are fairly difficult to give a response to. Always stay updated with the current news.
Dress appropriately : Don’t forget, your first impression is the last impression. If you are dressed aptly for the interview it speaks volumes about your charisma – it shows that you are serious about your job and secondly, it portrays how disciplined you are.
Stand your ground : Be polite when you disagree with the interviewee’s opinion. And if you are confident that you correct stand your ground and put forth your point.
