The heritage hotel movement has played a pivotal role in the conservation of heritage havelis, forts, and palaces in India. These exquisite properties once housed aristocratic families and now are offering guests the unique opportunity to live like royals.
To preserve and promote India’s cultural and architectural heritage and revive heritage tourism in the country, the Indian Heritage Hotels Association (IHHA), an association of Royals, Maharajas and Thakurs of India, held their 11th Annual Convention and 23rd AGM, on 18 to 20, September, 2024, at a green and picturesque location of INDeco Hotel Swamimalai, Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu
This gathering of over 150 Indian heritage hotel owners—of the royals at the IHHA convention, discussed on the topic of reshaping heritage hotel hospitality, 25-year roadmap for heritage tourism in India and identify young leaders to continue their legacy.
To preserve and promote India’s cultural and architectural heritage and revive heritage tourism in the country, the Indian Heritage Hotels Association (IHHA), an association of Royals, Maharajas and Thakurs of India, held their 11th Annual Convention and 23rd AGM, on 18 to 20, September, 2024, at a green and picturesque location of INDeco Hotel Swamimalai, Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu.
The IHHA convention was inaugurated by K. Lakshminarayanan, Minister for Tourism, Government of Pondicherry. Also present were, Dr. Suman Billa, IAS Addl. Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, GOI; HH Maharaja Gaj Singh II of Jodhpur and President Emeritus, IHHA; Steve Borgia, Founder CMD, INDeco Group; Jose Dominic, CEO, CGH and VP, IHHA; Aman Nath, Chairman, Neemrana Hotels and member of IHHA, and other VIPs, dignitaries and members with their spouses. Guest of honour, Babaji Rajah Bhonsle Chattrapathi, current head of the Maratha royal family of Thanjavur and titular king of Thanjavur and brother, Prince Abaji Rajah Bhonsle, were also present.
The host of the three days convention, Steve Borgia, the founder chairman and managing director of INDeco Group, said that INDeco transforms hospitality from mere shelter to unique experiences and contains the zeal to showcase authentic India—redefining hospitality. Steve Borgia is the single largest collector of museum objects—he is not a Maharaja, but whatever he does and creates, make him a Maharaja.
