Nurturing a Vision, Growing a Legacy

Readers often look to prominent publications to guide and inspire them. Yet, sometimes, it’s in a quiet, determined corner that a passionate idea takes root, almost unnoticed; and a new vision begins. There’s a seed of thought, filled with dedication and ambition, and while there’s excitement, there’s also uncertainty. Will this idea find the support? Will it receive the right nourishment to grow, bask in favourable conditions, and ultimately bloom into something remarkable?
Such were the thoughts at the outset of the journey of Corporate Citizen magazine—a concept envisioned by the esteemed educationist Late Prof. Dr. (Col.) A. Balasubramanian, founder of Sri Balaji University, Pune (SBUP). He planted this seed with the conviction that the magazine, enriched with the ‘fertiliser’ of ‘Contemporary Corporate Thoughts’, would grow into a distinct and invaluable resource for corporate wisdom.
His vision was clear: Corporate Citizen would be more than a magazine; it would be a dynamic platform featuring powerful, real-time insights from the stalwarts of industry. These realtime thoughts, often missing from conventional textbooks due to the rapid evolution of technology would provide readers with up-to-the-minute knowledge on emerging trends and challenges.
Through resilience and dedication, this seed grew into a thriving plant, enduring not only the natural tests of time but also the unprecedented impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Today (10 years later), Corporate Citizen has blossomed into a respected corporate magazine, valued by readers and leaders alike. It serves as a bridge between industry leaders and aspiring professionals, offering invaluable lessons through their interviews. Through their inspiring sessions at prestigious platforms like Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and National Human Resource Development Network (NHRDN), which are reflected in the magazine.
As this seed is sown and the plant blossoms, it’s vital for the owner to trust the gardener’s expertise in nurturing it. Bala Sir, as our founder Late Prof. Dr. (Col.) A. Balasubramanian is fondly known, had this wisdom in abundance. He instilled immense confidence in the Corporate Citizen team, giving us the freedom to shape and cultivate the magazine while guiding us with his clear vision. Though he is no longer with us, his precise direction and commitment to the magazine’s purpose remain vibrant and deeply relevant.
Bala Sir’s legacy is further honoured by his son, Paramanandhan Balasubramanian, the Chancellor of Sri Balaji University, Pune (SBUP), who has ensured the magazine’s continuity. Now, under the umbrella of the Sri Balaji School of Media, Communication, and Journalism, Corporate Citizen carries forward Bala Sir’s journalistic legacy. This edition, marking 10 years of Corporate Citizen, celebrates not only our journey but also our future as we expand into multi-media with an interactive website and video content.
We take this opportunity to thank our loyal readers, whose encouragement and faith in us has inspired us to elevate our standards with every edition. We are equally grateful to our Advisory Board, which has stood by us with unwavering support, fortifying our mission as we look to the years ahead with optimism and commitment.
As I reflect on this journey, I am filled with immense pride. Corporate Citizen has truly become a source of knowledge and inspiration—bringing optimism, and relevance in the news of the ever-evolving corporate world.
