Beyond the Classroom

Our new column Students’ Katta is an informal collage of campus stories, where learners have taken extraordinary initiatives and left lasting impressions. From big celebrations to gatherings, student-led initiatives, transformational leadership—their dedication and passion truly stand out
The Spirit of Celebrations

As the coordinator of my college’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti celebration, I had the privilege of organising the grand dhol procession. Weeks of planning led up to this moment—streets lined with students, saffron flags waving, and the rhythmic beats of dhol and bhandara (turmeric powder) filling the air.
I made sure the Dhol Tasha Pathak (drumming group) arrived on time, with their synchronised beats energising the crowd. Dressed in traditional attire, I led the procession, ensuring discipline while maintaining the enthusiasm. Girl students were seen participating in and leading Dhol Tasha Pathak, challenging traditional gender roles and adding vibrant energy to the festival. The echo of "Har Har Mahadev!" rang through the campus as we marched towards the Prerna Sthal, where a beautifully decorated stage awaited.
Coordinating between performers, faculty and volunteers, I ensured that every detail was taken care of. As the celebrations concluded with a tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, I felt a deep sense of pride. Seeing the success of the event and the joy on everyone’s faces, I knew all the hard work had been worth it.
I would like to acknowledge the faculty members who supported us. It was with their contributions and efforts that we made sure this year's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti celebration was the grandest of all.

Enhancing my leadership and organisational skills
I am proud to share my recent involvement in organising TEDx at Sri Balaji University , Pune as a student organiser. TEDx is a global platform that showcases diverse experiences through storytelling.

From the initial planning stages to managing international speakers, I had the privilege of contributing to one of the most engaging and impactful events on campus. This experience provided me with invaluable insights into event management and cross-cultural collaboration. The tireless efforts and continuous support from our esteemed TEDx team were truly inspiring.
Additionally, I was part of the Srujan EDIC (Entrepreneurship Development Incubation Centre) team, where we hosted the national-level entrepreneurship competition "ARAMBH-II," which brought together dynamic innovators and entrepreneurs. As part of the team, I played a key role in managing prominent stalls from various sectors, ensuring a seamless and impactful experience for participants from around the world.
Both of these experiences have significantly enhanced my organisational, leadership and communication skills, and I look forward to leveraging them in my future endeavours.
To conclude, I’d say, "I believe the person I am becoming".

Lessons from Managing Events

I believe managing events instills a sense of responsibility like no other. It requires you to stay on your toes and be ready for any last-minute changes. As future managers, this forward-thinking mindset is crucial. Being a part of the NHRDN (National Human Resource Development Network) team for the DEI (Diversity Equity Inclusion) Workshop taught me the importance of being detail-oriented in executing tasks.
I got the opportunity to leverage my strengths to ensure the comfort of the honourable speakers. The event also allowed me to interact with individuals who were doing phenomenal work in making workspaces more inclusive for everyone. As a PM (Personnel Management) and HRD (Human Resource Development) major, this experience was a treasure trove of learnings for me.

Fuelling My Passion for HR

As an MBA student specialising in HR, I had the incredible honour of serving as the Master of Ceremonies for Akshar and Abhinandan, two corporate events designed for HR professionals organised by SBUP’s Team Sri BUILD under the MDP (Management Development Programmes) Cell. Hosting these events was both exhilarating and deeply enriching, and it significantly boosted my confidence. Following the events, I took on the role of Aide-de-Camp (ADC), working closely with industry leaders.
This experience offered invaluable insights into the HR field, enhancing my understanding of realworld practices. The inspiring guidance I received further fuelled my passion for HR.
These events were a transformative learning experience that not only honed my skills but also provided a deeper understanding of the dynamic corporate world I aspire to be part of.

Honouring Excellence: My ADC Role

As an MBA student specialising in HR, I had the privilege of serving as the Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to the esteemed members of the Neosym Industry Limited during Akshar and Abhinandan, two prestigious events dedicated to honouring distinguished individuals for their remarkable contributions. This experience was both enriching and insightful. Interacting closely with industry leaders gave me a firsthand understanding of corporate protocols, professional networking, and the complexities of event coordination at a high level. The role demanded agility , effective communication, and attention to detail, which are essential skills for any HR professional. Organised by Team Sri BUILD under the MDP Cell, the event was a celebration of achievement and excellence.
